Tooth whitening is a simple, straight forward and painless procedure which can dramatically improve the shade of your teeth.
We offer Home Whitening, which enables you to whiten your teeth in the privacy of your own home. This tooth lightening system offers fantastic convenience and allows you to re-freshen your tooth shade at your convenience.
You will initially see the dentist for a consultation to assess whether tooth whitening in suitable for you. Tooth whitening only whitens natural teeth so if you have any white fillings or crowns for example it will not change the colour of
those but you could opt to have those replaced after the treatment.
Your dentist will take some impressions of your teeth and from that they will have some whitening trays made. These are very similar to a traditional gum shield but less bulky.
You will then be given the whitening trays and some whitening solution, your dentist will show you how to place the whitening solution in the trays and you will leave the practice wearing the trays.
It is important that you do not overload the trays with the whitening solution as this can damage your gums.
You will wear the trays for 6-8 hours per day over around a 14 day period
The results can vary from patient to patient but the average patient is normally happy with the result of the treatment after a two to three week period.
For the long term success of tooth whitening we would recommend that the treatment is repeated every six months for up to two and a half years.
This “top up” treatment should take four to five days.
Tooth whitening improves the appearance of your teeth without removing any of the natural tooth surfaces. It is a less tooth destructive option than a crown or veneer if you want to lighten the colour of healthy teeth.
We recommend that tooth whitening is not carried out during pregnancy and breast feeding.
Tooth whitening will not alter the colour of crowns veneers and fillings.
The cost of tooth whitening at the present time is £200*as it is on Special Offer
The cost of a four syringe “top up” is £60* including the appointment with the dentist who will need to prescribe it
If you have any further questions about the above treatments please do not hesitate to ask your dentist.
